Days have gone when mobile phones was a luxury. Now the common man has atleast one mobile phone. Times have changed drastically when service was given only to the elite but now the mobile operations are giving special services to all. The phones are not only used for communication but for other purposes as well.
Today all the new cinema songs are kept as ring tones in the phones and people keep their mobile wallpapers as pictures of actors and actress. Cables are used to download there favorite pictures, these services are charged anywhere from Rs.5 to Rs.10.
Tamil Nadu is said to be the number 1 state in downloading actors and actress pictures as well as ring tones. The operators who provide these service say that they earn up to 200 cores a year.
In the Tamil Nadu film industry, actor Vijay’s photos are downloaded the most after him are Suriya , Vikram and Arya. As for the actress Asin, Trisha, Nayanthara and Shreya are the more preferred downloads. The trailers of the movie “Shivaji” and “Bheema” where down loaded the most. A source in the private communication said that big stars such as Rajinikanths and Kamal Hassan pictures are not being downloaded that much.
According to a employee in a communication sector “I download only Vijay’s and Ajithi’s pictures. Actress I download only Asin’s pictures for her beauty and Nayanthara’s pictures for her glamour”.
A college girl said that she did not have much interest in downloading pictures but if she can she will only download Surya’s and Arya’s pictures. She doesn’t mind spending some money to get the pictures.
During festival time when there is more movie’s released the downloads are more so the companies are earning a lot of money with Actors and Actress in the mobile industry too.
